The Indianapolis Colts soon may have a new fan club in Baghdad.
Indianapolis lawyer David Seiter is a U.S. Army captain serving as a military lawyer in Iraq.
"My supervisor and I are involved in setting up the juvenile court system and other children support programs for the city of Baghdad," he writes.
Now Seiter is asking for some help in teaching Iraqi youngsters about American life, including football.
He's a big Colts fan. And when Indy plays New Orleans next month, Seiter is hoping to equip the newest Indianapolis fans in two Baghdad orphanages with Colts jerseys and other gear.
"Many of these children lost their parents during the war," he says.
He's asking folks to send things like Colts jerseys and hats -- new or used.
Friends have been pitching in. And this week he received a package from the team itself, filled with T-shirts, youth-size footballs and other goodies.
Seiter has turned the clothing drive into a friendly competition with his boss -- a New Orleans Saints fan -- to see whose city is most generous.
So far, Indy's winning.
